Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Dontforgift collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it deliberately plain. If anything is unclear, email hello@dontforgift.com.

Who we are

Dontforgift is a personal gift-planning application. "Dontforgift", "we", "us", and "our" refer to the operator of the Dontforgift app and the website at dontforgift.com.

Information we collect

• Account information — the email address (and, where you choose it, the name) you sign in with. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider, Supabase.
• Content you create — the people you add, their occasions and interests, the gift ideas you park, budgets, and notes. This is the core of the service and is private to your account.
• Usage and diagnostic data — anonymised product analytics and error reports that help us understand what's working and fix what isn't.

How we use your information

• To operate the app — storing your people, ideas, and reminders and resurfacing them at the right time.
• To keep the service secure, reliable, and free of abuse.
• To improve the product using aggregated, de-identified usage patterns.
• To respond to you when you contact us.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the private content you save (your people or gift ideas) to target advertising.

Service providers we rely on

We use a small set of trusted providers to run Dontforgift. Each processes data only to provide their service to us:

• Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
• Vercel — website and application hosting.
• PostHog — privacy-conscious product analytics.
• Sentry — error monitoring and diagnostics.
• Affiliate networks (such as Awin) — when you follow a product recommendation out to a retailer, the network may record that referral so any resulting commission is attributed correctly.

Affiliate links

Dontforgift earns commission from some links. Certain product recommendations are affiliate links, which means we may receive a small commission if you buy through them — at no additional cost to you. This never changes which gifts we surface or the order we present them in. When you click such a link, the affiliate network may set a cookie in your browser to attribute a potential purchase.

Cookies

The marketing website uses only what's necessary to function and to understand aggregate traffic. Affiliate networks may set attribution cookies when you follow an outbound product link, as described above. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time.

Data retention and your choices

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. You can edit or delete the people and ideas you've saved from within the app, and you can request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing us. We'll act on verified requests promptly.

Children

Dontforgift is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the date below and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
